Editorial Review: Description: Based on a harrowing true story... A weekend cruise aboard a luxury yacht goes horribly awry for a group of old high school friends who forget to lower the ladder before they jump into the ocean for a swim. The boat proves impossible to climb, leaving them adrift, miles from shore. As the reality of the situation sinks in, the friends begin to turn on each other. Soon the exhaustion of keeping afloat and the struggle to get back on board begin to take a terrible toll. What started as a joyful reunion becomes a fight for survival! Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Great suspense on a tragic yacht trip, not bad but could have been better!..................In the original Open Water, the film was about a couple stranded in the middle of the ocean who went deep sea diving and somehow missed the boat and ended up being stranded in the middle of nowhere whilst on vacation. The formula is now repeated in Open Water 2: Adrift. I really liked the first film and thought it was very good, it was a low budget film that ended up being a hit and for good reason cause it had a good storyline and interesting characters in a realistic situation and that's why it ... This movie was supposedly based on a true story and I can believe it is. If you were to write down everything that happens on paper in order it does make sense and could have made for quite a good movie but it just didn't fully succeed. It grabbed me in at the beginning with the 4 friends videotaping themselves. I thought it really showed the closeness and bond ... Read More Rating: - Six Stupid People at SeaI loved the original Open Water. I figured this "sequel" wouldn't be as good but I am a sucker for movies that exploit the awful wonder of the ocean so I gave it a shot. There are some good performances in the film, and the irony of how they got themselves into this pickle is a great set-up. But there are just too many acts of stupidity. When Lauren decides to swim off to shore & no one stops her, I just had to laugh. I mean, seriously??? That's not even to mention the rope ( which they let go ... I WENT INTO THIS ONE NOT REALLY EXPECTING MUCH AND I HAVE TO SAY THIS IS MORE ENTERTAINING AND GRIPPING. THE ASPECT OF BEING LOST IN THE WATER AND NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT BUT WAIT TO DIE IS A HAUNTING REALITY THAT IS SCARY IN MY BOOK. THIS MOVIE PUSHES THE FEAR OF NOT BEING ABLE TO CONTROL THE SITUATION. MIX IN A CRAZY FRIEND NAMED DAN WHO HAS NOT GROWN UP AND IS RECKLESS TO THE POINT OF CAUSING DEATH ... Read More Rating: - Aye-Aye Mateys....DUHWow! This film started out interestingly enough. In most horror films we fully expect that somebody does something incredibly stupid, resulting in all of them being in "quite a kettle of fish, Ollie". However, the characters in this movie don't have enough brains amongst them to even get the boat out of the harbor, much less solve their dilemma. Hmmm, with six extremely healthy adults (plenty of flexibility and stamina, one would presume, judging from the shape of their buns) caught ... Read More Browse for similar items by category:
