Music : Perfectly ClearIn association with Amazon.comRating: - S'kayThough I admire Jewel's songwriting technique, this CD proves that Jewel cannot hang with the big dogs. Her voice sounds like it's gonna give out on some of the stretches, while the rest of time her voice is like a little girl singing about love. It's a little creepy, unless you like that sort of thing. There's really only 4 songs that appeal to me on this disk. Rating: - Highly recommend!Jewel has a beautiful voice and her range is incredible. Each song is enjoyable, refreshing and entertaining. I highly recommend! Rating: - Kitsch CountryI love Jewel. Always have. However, I don't find it necessary that she pick up on the cheesier aspects of country to create a new gimmick for herself. She's fine the way she is. I like the CD still, but I don't feel like adding a generic twang to your folk sound makes you a genuine country artist. Rating: - Better than the last fewI became a Jewel fan immediately upon hearing the Pieces of You cd. I have yet to hear a cd from Jewel that matches the beauty of that cd or the range of her voice. I haven't cared for the cds that she's released since then and keep hoping for one as good as Pieces of You. This cd is the closest one to her original style although she has alot of country nuances. Her voice is clear and nice to listen to, but the songs lack the deep emotions of the first cd. All of songs are love songs but lack true emotion in their presentation. All in all, it's a decent cd, good for listening to in the car when stuck in traffic. But I'm still waiting for a cd that is as good as Pieces of You (minus Adrian, which was unlistenable). |
