I had to archive a lot of faded family pictures from 30-40 years ago, and I was getting terrible results with my old scanner (streaking, bad colors, etc.), so I bit the bullet on this scanner based on the Amazon recommendations. WOW, is this thing amazing - the "Fading correction" image correction is beyond words - it makes these terribly faded, yellow pictures look like they were taken recently. Very fast as well. Rating: - CanoscanThis product delivered as advertised. I use it to scan my 35mm slides. At 1200 dpi, it takes 30 seconds per slide. I scanned some slides at 4800 dpi, but couldn't see any difference between it and the 1200 dpi. Rating: - Very niceI bought this several months ago with the intent of scanning slides that were up to 25 years old. It is an ongoing project mainly for the winters and will take a few years. I am very happy with the quality of the images and the scan time. The software that came with the unit works fine for my purposes to rid any dust, scratches, lighten, deal with back light, etc. We also use it to scan and e-mail documents for various purposes. It is long so it takes a chunk of the desktop so make sure you have the room. |
