You wash it, perhaps even use a cleaner/wax to remove oxidation. Yet, when you run your fingers or fingernails across the surface it still feels gritty. What this product does: It will remove microscopic surface contaminants that have embedded themselves in the clear coat, such as brake and metal dust, or sit on the surface, such as overspray, sap or industrial pollution. What it does not do: Remove scratches, swirls, anything that has etched or stained the surface such as acid rain, hard water, or bird droppings that sat too long! There's a reason it's called "detailing clay". There are other products to help with these issues. How it works: Spray the showtime "lubricant" on a small area of the car's surface. Take the clay (sticky and the size of a hotel soap bar) and rub like crazy on the wet area. You will see quite a bit of "yuck" on the surface of the clay. Just re-knead it and start on a new section. Two words here - elbow grease! The results: The paint on your car will feel like glass! At this point, use a good cleaner wax such as the supplied sample of Mother's carnuba cleaner wax to remove fine oxidation if necessary, followed by a good coat or three of pure carnuba wax. Your car *will* pass the towel test (drop a towel on the hood and watch it slide off!) Rating: - Mothers Clay Bar SystemIf you really love your car or truck, you need to clay bar the paint. It really works, you will notice a huge difference as soon as your done. What are you waiting for... your car deserves to be treated like this. Rating: - Works GreatI used this on my new car which had a few dirt marks that the dealer failed to remove. I used it on the entire surface of the car and it made a huge difference. The surface of the car is so smooth now. It is really easy to remove touch dirt or bug splats on the bumber with this, spray..swipe the clay bar (gently)..wipe dry. It comes with wax but I have not used it yet so I can't comment on the performance of the wax. I will plan on buying this again for future use. Rating: - An excellent product that I will recommend to everybody!After putting many off-road miles on my new SUV, it was time to get a good car wash. After passing through an automatic car wash and then going to ado-it-yourself place, my car was finally ready to be pampered with the clay system. This produced worked better than advertised and here is the process that I used to clean the car and bring it back to a showroom condition. 1. Wash the car and dry it with a microfiber towel. 2. Use the system as described on the package. 3. Use Nu-Finish Scratch Doctor to remove any of the scratches. You may need to repeat this several times. 4. Use Amorall plastic protector (or any other plastic protector) on door handles and other plastic cars to protect them from wax. 5. Wax the car. This worked like a charm. My only problem is the size of the clay bar. I think it is too small and I would not mind buying a bigger clay bar. 10 out of 10. Mother's products are truly the best! Rating: - Outstanding Product !!!!!!!This clay bar system works! My car looks brand-spankin-new! (mostly!) I had purchased this in order to remove paint overspray that we experienced almost a year ago. Okay, I need to give my car more TLC, but it actually removed the overspray from the painted parts. I had read reviews along these lines and was hopeful that I would have the same results, and amazingly I did. Now, notice that I said that it removed from the painted parts. That's because it didn't work on our black trim or on our wiper blades or on the windows. So, time to find a razor and get it off of the windows. Remember, do not use blades on rear view mirrors, you'll damage them. The end result was that it works! Let me give you the quick and simple run down. Wash the car. Dry the car. Feel the car (this step is not in the directions, but feel the grainy roughness of the finish so that you can compare it later). Open and use the clay bar with the appropriate spray. The clay bar isn't completely solid, it's almost like a thick dough (or maybe even clay!). Wipe away the stuff left behind and feel the results. It was amazing! Another amazing thing, was how simple and easy it was to use. I have waxed cars by hand in the past and I ended up with "wax elbow". This was along those lines, but the results were, again, amazing! Then it asks you way when your done. This is to ensure a good coating. I used this just 3 weeks ago, and I am still amazed at how shiny my cars are. Also, I have enough left over to use again.
