Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - OK for mechanical - useless for electrical
This manual tries to cover far too many years of this model to be effective. In fact, this should really be broken into two seperate manuals ('93-'98, and '99-'04). For most of the mechanical sections they manage to cover the full range by including doubles of all the pictures, one set for the older models and one set for the newer models. This can get confusing at times, but can be managed. Where this book comeplety falls apart is in the electrical chapter. The information and schematics included ONLY apply to the older, pre-'99 style Grand Cherokees and are completely worthless for newer models. If you have a '93-'98 Grand then this book should be great for you, I'd give it 4 stars, but for folks like me with the newer models then it is barely 1 star.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - real nice!
very good for basic repairs.includes engine check codes and other stuff that let you know when you are being ripped by your mechanic.
saved me a lot of cash!

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - To Generic for the job
I bought this book to fix a leaking water pump. What I found was a lack of detail put forth for specific tasks. Instead of referencing a specific illustration, they just say, "see illustration" but don't tell you which one of the many on the page to reference. I have been completely thrilled with other Hayes books in the past, but it seems that the need to put a single book out to cover a larger population has hurt their ability to provide a quality book that is usable.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - How much can you fit into a book this size?
If you already know enough to do most of the work on a car or truck where you can reach most of the parts (like maybe you've rebuilt an engine or two, replaced a clutch, put new shoes on drum brakes) then this book will probably provide the information you need to do work on the parts of the Grand Cherokee that you can reach. If you have a good pheumatic ratchet wrench and the time, you can probably do the balance of the mechanical work yourself. This book will not tell you what to do when your coil burns out repeatedly or help you diagnose that your injector pump impeller lunched itself and spit little pieces throughout your entire injection system. Chrysler/Mopar will charge you more than you can imagine to fix those two, and a good - very good - local mechanic will still charge a lot. This is not a book for beginners, but engines built since about 1980 are not for beginners. For me this book rates 4 stars, but for the general market, I'm going with three.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Haynes Jeep Manuals are the Best
If you want to get an upgrade or a problem fixed quick and easy, Haynes Jeep Manuals are by far the best. Trying to buy the original manuals from the Chrysler official website can set you back $70 instead of a great value for [price]
