Books : Chassis Engineering HP1055In association with Amazon.comRating: - solid rear axle only This book is useless for anything other than info about setting up solid rear axle systems. everything else in this book is either incomplete or filled with editing errors. A whole book about chassis engineering etc that at no point whatsoever mentions Ackerman angle is unbelievable. Mr. Adams says that to find the C of G position is difficult so he doesnt tell us how he tells us to assume where it is based on other cars hhhmmm Then how come in race and rally car source book mr staniforth explains how in less than a page. Save your money or buy staniforths book and see how its really done Rating: - There are much better optionsDespite the title, it's mainly focused on suspension design and tuning. It has some useful stuff, but nothing you can't find in many other books, and there are some basic errors on it. I purchased it together with "Race Car Engineering & Mechanics", and I'd strongly recommend this one instead. Better written, similarly priced, and a far, far bigger density of useful information in it. Rating: - Brilliant! This book is brilliant! It is so informative and has taught me so much. The language is very easy to understand for the average bloke! What a great buy!!! My son and I are building a race car for speedway and I highly recommend this book to blokes who are setting up a car to go racing! Rating: - good infoIt is a good starting point if you are getting started into better handling and racing ,but this book is geared up for racing. Rating: - Chassis EngineeringHerb Adams has writen a great book here. It covers the ground work basics of a good sound chassis. Aero, spring and shock, control arms and much more are coverd. Plus frame construction. Now i read in a reivew on amazon that this book had little on fram construction and the man gave Mr. Adams one start. I must say this is very disapointing for anyone with any experience in the field knows that the suspension is the most important part of the chassis puzzle. Its really the suspension that makes your car handle nice. The frame's purpose is to allow the changes to the suspension to be acurate. Herb Adams covers everything in good proportion. A great intermediate or beginner book. I am impressed. |
