The piece is made of unfinished light colored wood. It is not the best quality wood, and has no chance of supporting even the weight of a very light adult. It's purely decorative. It's easy to assemble for someone who is used to a screwdriver and can forgive the rather vague instructions. Rating:  - Great buy!This bridge was exactly as described. Really fast shipper.
