When the kits arrived, mats had a rubber odor which is quite reasonable - we were buying rubber mats. It was gone in 3-4 days, we left the mats in the attic with windows open. Since they are made from natural materials (no PVC), both the mat and the block are a little bit heavy comparing to PVC ones. My previous mat was thicker and Very squishy. Not only did it not provide very good support, but it slid around a LOT on my laminate flooring. The mat is also good , but u tend to slip ..(I have sweaty feet when I do yoga) and tend to slip on it when doing stretches...but the mat is of good size ..very comfortable.
