![]() Rating: - You've seen it all before. Many times.Lake Dead (George Bessudo, 2007) I was going to start this review out by saying "yet another attempt to combine Deliverance and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre." And then I thought about it, and really, given the obvious potential for crossbreeding there, you don't really see as much of it as you should. Still, when you do see it, it should certainly be better than this. In any case, as these things go, you've got your young-and-beautifuls. In this case, they are composed of ... Read More Rating: - Lake Dead, or at least I hope it is....Let me start out by saying I love the Slasher genre. Films like Friday the 13th and Madman are what I grew up on. That being said, Lake Dead is not a tribute to such classic B-horror films: it's an insult. The plot is absolutely twisted, the acting is horrible, and the effects are pre-70's. If you are trying to cash in on the fans of 80's horror, take a few notes from films like Hatchet. This isn't even a wannabe... it doesn't even come close. Don't waste your time. Rating: - LOL RightThis is god awful. The writer of this movie sat down and ripped off what has already been done, Psycho, The Hills Have Eyes, and Wrong Turn. Enough of the serial killing rednecks okay? The acting was so poor. Times when people were supposed to be serious they were smiling, and the screams and begging sounded like something from Scary Movie where Shannon Elizabeth was screaming "EEK EEK!" Some cheesy movies are good to sit around and watch with friends as everyone makes fun of the characters and ... Read More Rating: - Bad, Awful, Dreadful, Horrendous...Bad, Bad, Bad movie! The 8 Films to Die For series REALLY needs to be a little more selective with the movies they choose for there horror anthology. It seems like they either get it really right (Frontier(s), Borderland), or really really wrong (Penny Dreadful, Nightmare Man, Dark Ride, Etc.)... This was DEFINETLY one of the wrong ones. The movie starts out with a trio of sisters inheriting a motel out in the woods (i have no idea where it was set) from ... Read More Rating: - FlashbackThis reminded me of a bad 80's horror flick. Bad acting, bad special effects with a one note story. The basic idea of the movie is that 3 sisters inherit an old hotel upstate from their dead grandfather. The twist is that he had raised some mutant inbreed family who then starts killing the girls and their friends. Nothing really connects well with this picture. Even as a homage to 25 years ago this really doesn't work. Too many bad plot points, and just very lackluster direction. I've just about ... Read More Browse for similar items by category:
