About Recumbent Exercise Bikes
Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out.

The term recumbent literally means "lying down." Exercising in a recumbent or reclining position allows the user to have full ergonomic back support, without causing strain on the arms, neck and shoulders, all of which can be common effects of using an upright bicycle. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Buyer beware!!
There is no support for this bike if you have an issue. I got my bike in fine condition and got it together. The last step is to wire the control unit to the machine...if you CAN. There is no receiver for the ac adapter and the battery holders have solid plastic bars in them so that the batteries won't go in. I tried calling the number on the documentation and got an out of service. I tried an online form at the company's website and got this:

The manufacture (KEYS Fitness) of old ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Solid bike for the money
I got this bike from Amazon for $293 delivered. At that price you can't beat it. Amazon has raised the price again so I must have been lucky when I bought mine. Overall it is a decent bike and gives you a good workout. The upright design is pretty comfortable and the mesh seatback is highly adjustable so you can get just the right fit. The pulse sensors work well (regardless of other reviews on here) but you have to keep both hands on the sensors for about 15-20 seconds before it gets an accurate ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good Bike for the Price
Received this item a few days ago. Assembly was very easy, took about an hour. Everything works properly and the bike is very durable. The bike is amazingly silent while riding, the only time you'll hear anything is when the resistance is adjusting.

I'd give this bike 5-stars if not for the worthless sensor bars. It displays my pulse in the 60's, then in the 70's, then in the 80's, next thing you know I have a pulse of over 130 in the matter of about 10 seconds. Very inaccurate. Also the body ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Surprisingly comfortable and effective
This is the best piece of home exercise equipment I've owned. I got to try the Ironman at a local store (Play it Again) next to a Schwinn, and I liked the Ironman better because: Very nice backlit console, easy to read with my glasses off; heart rate programs, including one you can set manually at whatever heart rate you desire; chair and position feel extremely comfortable, love the mesh seat backing; at 135 pounds, it's about 25-50 pounds heavier than most bikes in its price range; and it's about as stylish ... Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Nice on paper, but...
After researching, I decided on the Ironman Charger through Amazon, through Bayou Fitness. The other choice was the Schwinn 231, which I now wish I had gotten. It came down to resistance levels, and programmed settings. The Charger had more challenging programs and levels. I purchased this 11/11/08. After about a week it arrived. The box was undamaged, whole. When putting it together, I realized that the power connector that led to the display had been sliced clean in half, something that probably happened in ... Read More
