Editorial Review: Product Description: The best of the best is back and better than ever" (WNYW-TV) in the latest installment of the pulse-pounding thrill-a-minute Die Hard action films. New York City detective John McClane (Bruce Willis) delivers old-school justice to a new breed of terrorists when a massive computer attack on the U.S. infrastructure threatens to shut down the entire country over Independence Day weekend. System Requirements:Run time: 130 minutesFormat: BLU-RAY DISC Genre: ACTION/ADVENTURE/POLICE & DETECTIVE FILMS Rating: PG-13 UPC: 024543476368 Manufacturer No: 2247636 Amazon.com: Twelve years after Die Hard with a Vengeance, the third and previous film in the Die Hard franchise, Live Free or Die Hard finds John McClane (Bruce Willis) a few years older, not any happier, and just as kick-ass as ever. Right after he has a fight with his college-age daughter (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), a call comes in to pick up a hacker (Justin Long, a.k.a. the "Apple guy") who might help the FBI learn something about a brief security blip in their systems. Now any Die Hard fan knows that this is when the assassins with foreign accents and high-powered weaponry show up, telling McClane that once again he's stumbled into an assignment that's anything but routine. Once that wreckage has cleared, it is revealed that the hacker is only one of many hackers who are being targeted for extermination after they helped set up a "fire sale," a three-pronged cyberattack designed to bring down the entire country by crippling its transportation, finances, and utilities. That plan is now being put into action by a mysterious team (Timothy Olyphant, Deadwood, and Maggie Q, Mission: Impossible 3) that seems to be operating under the government's noses. Live Free or Die Hard uses some of the cat-and-mouse elements of Die Hard with a Vengeance along with some of the pick-'em-off-one-by-one elements of the now-classic original movie. And it's the most consistently enjoyable installment of the franchise since the original, with eye-popping stunts (directed by Len Wiseman of the Underworld franchise), good humor, and Willis's ability to toss off a quip while barely alive. There was some controversy over the film's PG-13 rating--there might be less blood than usual, and McClane's famous tag line is somewhat obscured--but there's still has plenty of action and a high body count. ![]() Rating: - Unnecessary Sequel!!I really wish they'd stop making sequels of movies from long ago. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, Clerks II, Rambo, Rocky Balboa, Hannibal Rising, etc. It's nice to relive those old movies as they were and let the characters fade into the legendary status they deserve. By coming out with yet another movie N years later, you might get excited about it (Hulk comes to mind, as does Spider-Man). But unlike those decently made films, Live Free Or Die Hard is a great example of keeping the ... Read More Rating: - Bruce at it againBruce Willis is at it again in the fourth entry of the "Die Hard" movies. To be brief. Some things are done excellently,,,such as dialog and of course the stunts. But as with anything when trying to up the ante for the fourth time some things are not up to excellence. Some of the characters and some of the situations are blah blah. Bottom line...a good movie to own, and see over again. Rating: - Your basic sequel but as good as the original! This movie is another in a line of sequels to Die Hard. This movie could continue with as many sequels as they want and I would watch them. Bruce Willis is HOT! I love him when he is dirty and sweaty. He is a believable common man hero. He doesn't go through mud and dirt and fighting and in the next scene be squeaky clean. The price is great and I was pleased with the unrated version. Rating: - Die Hard - okAll of you are taking this movie way too seriously. Its an ACTION movie. Not a documentary. Did you actually expect that you were going to gain some inspiring, intellectual knowledge from watching this movie? Lighten up! Its supposed to be entertaining and implausible. And yes, all 4 of these Die Hard movies have implausible scenarios. I guess none of you are big fans of Jason Bourne or James Bond, huh? I thought it was entertaining. And while I'm not a computer geek, I didn't find the computer jargon ... Read More Rating: - An Entertaining but Over the Top Action MovieLive Free Or Die Hard is the epidemy of a summer action movie. Explosions, car crashes, cursing, and absurd over the top stunts are all here in spades. Not paticularly thought provoking or realisitc but enjoyable nonetheless. I'm a big fan of the other Die Hard movies due to there incredible action sequences, memorable characters, and direction. My major qualm with this movie wasn't the over the top action. But the characterizations. I couldn't believe that these computer nerds would have the motivation ... Read More Browse for similar items by category:
