This stand does just that...no it's not a "cooler" but the flat surface allows air in if your notebook still has the pads underneath. Ergonomically it is very comfortable. I have had no wrist or arm discomfort using it. Additionally, having the open center, I am able to pick up the pad and the laptop without putting strain on the notebook itself/or the monitor. It is actually sturdy enough so that the laptop won't sink when you put it on top thus allowing for proper ventilation.
