Editorial Review: Description: Own the Entire Series 14 episodes at a Time! This two disc set contains episodes 34-59 It’s been nearly a year since Yusuke lost his life, and every day brings a surprise in his new role as Spirit Detective. The latest shock arrives when the identity of a mysterious Masked Fighter is revealed at the Dark Tournament! Hiei faces off against an opponent made of the stuff of nightmares. Then, after fifteen years in his borrowed human form, the demon Yoko Kurama has returned. What could this mean for Team Urameshi? Plus, Kuwabara is cast through a dimensional portal. What will he find on the other side? After a surprise entrance into the Tournament, a weakened Genkai must rely on her wits to survive. As she faces her former ally, Toguro, their history is finally revealed! Genkai is at the mercy of her former friend, and it might not end well for the old warrior. Team Toguro might be the most lethal crew to ever get in the ring! The Tournament Finals are set to begin. With each team short a member, two competitors step up to even the odds. Who are the two new fighters and what could they possibly bring to the team? The Finals will surely prove to be the most ruthless battles the dimensions have ever seen. Team Urameshi has to pull together… or perish! Amazon.com: The 14 episodes on these two discs continue the "Toguro" or "Dark Tournament Saga," the second major adventure in the popular Yu Yu Hakusho series. Team Urameshi is competing in the Dark Tournament, the supernatural equivalent of a WWF tag-team smackdown. Yusuke Urameshi and his comrades Kuwabara, Kurama, Genkai, and Hiei, defeat the demon quintet of the Uraotogi Team in the semi-finals. But the key actions occur outside the Tournament Arena. Yusuke finally hatches the "spirit egg" he acquired when he became a spirit detective after his death a year earlier. Phuu, who looks like a cross between a blue penguin and Ryo-Ohki in Tenchi Muyo, emerges from the glowing shell--suggesting Yusuke's hidden kind heart. Knowing that Yusuke would be defeated by the thuggish Toguro at his present level, Genkai gives him her "Spirit Wave Ball." Yusuke hasn't really progressed far enough to handle that much power, and he suffers horribly as he struggles to master it. Having given her ultimate technique to her student, Genkai meets her destiny calmly. The two-disc set ends with the first match of the Tournament finals: Team Urameshi vs. Team Toguro. The outcome isn't really in question, but getting there will be more than half the fun. Based on a manga by Yoshihiro Togashi (who also created Hunter X Hunter) Yu Yu Hakusho ran for more than 100 episodes in Japan, followed by two OAV's and two features. Like the Dragon Ball continuity, it delivers a blend of comradeship-in-arms, slapstick comedy and elaborate supernatural battles that adolescent boys adore. (Rated TV PG, suitable for ages 12 and older: violence, grotesque imagery, profanity, tobacco use.) --Charles Solomon Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Great and Well Developed Storyline, Even after All these Years! As a fan of Japanime for decades, and one that is seriously infected...ehr, uhm...I mean...addicted...*COUGH*...hooked...yeah that's it...hooked on a number of the older stories, the Yu Yu Hakusho series is among my top 10 must have list. Although the Inuyasha series (both Anime, and Manga) is my number one, all time favorite series, Yu Yu Hakusho is by far the one that follows as a close second. It you like Inuyasha, then you just have to checkout Yu Yu Hakusho. It is not just a matter ... To be honest the english dubs for all the other animes just sound like the voice actors are reading instead of putting true emotions into their voices to make it sound real. That's the what yu yu hakusho has over almost all the animes I have ever seen. The voice overs are outstanding and I think that's one thing that everyone should know separates a good english ...
