Does not fair well with sand. The metal "safety clip" preventing the blade from opening in pliers-mode broke after about 3 months. Great for travel or EDC. Rating: - Great Tool This Leatherman has not left my belt since I got it. The outside-opening blades are a wonderful change from the traditional inside-opening ones. The blades are sharp, and the tools are strong. I work as an IT admin, and the pliers and screwdrivers are priceless. I have owned a Gerber and a few knock-off brands, and they bent and broke. The Wave holds up. Highly recommended.
