Suportive and cushy, but not so cushy as to hurt your balance. It does have a strong plastic smell when you first unwrap it, but just risnse it off and hang it and the smell goes away within a few days. Also, if it seems a little slippery at first, rinsing it should help and then it should get stickier within a few weeks of use.
