It is plain, simple, and elegant - great for what I need it for. There are only three downsides I've found: 1) The part of the clip that actually clamps to your tie only does so in one place - as such it has a tendency to rotate on this axis point from the slightest movements of your body. I am a medical student, so I needed a professional-looking way to get my tie out of the way when I am examining patients, dealing with body fluids, etc. It matches with any tie, fits better across skinnier ties (but still works with wider ties), and seems to hold its shine well.
