Editorial Review: Description: The year is 2047. Years earlier, the pioneering research vessel Event Horizon vanished without a trace. Now a signal from it has been detected, and the United States Aerospace Command responds. Hurtling toward the signal's source are a fearless captain (Laurence Fishburne), his elite crew and the lost ship's designer (Sam Neill). Their mission: find and salvage the state-of-the-art spacecraft. What they find is state-of-the-art interstellar terror. Amazon.com: Lawrence Fishburne and Sam Neill head up a strong cast as the reluctant leaders of a rescue mission sent to find out just what in the hell (literally) happened to the crew of a long-vanished experimental spacecraft in this dark and thundering descent of a horror film. Although this extremely stylish haunted spaceship movie may be guilty of ripping off half a dozen better films (including Don't Look Now, Hellraiser, and especially Andrei Tarkovsky's great Solaris), it's difficult to deny the gothic razorblade effectiveness of the end result. Not a "fun" film by any stretch of the imagination, but a thrillingly ruthless shocker that may leave more susceptible viewers in need of a long shower and a high-voltage night-light. For the full effect, watch it with all the lights off and the volume cranked up to 11. --Andrew Wright Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Great film..great deal.Just what I was promised from Amazon and could not find this even at Blockbuster or Wal Mart. Rating: - Event Horizon: Worth a second chanceWhen I first saw the movie in theaters, I was disappointed by it after being hyped up by various movie sites and magazines. I was waiting for this one with bated breath and when I finally saw it, I was simply let down. It didn't really do it for me for various reasons, the main one being that the film felt somewhat mangled, as if they cut out all the gore that had been promised and excised what were probably important parts of the plot as well. Recently, my girlfriend reintroduced it ... Read More Rating: - Good QuestionIf you folded space to where point A (your current location) and point B (your desired destination) are within a few thousand miles instead of light years apart and, then, made the jump between space...well, what would you pass through? I'm no physicist but I found that question a very interesting part of the story behind this movie. This movie has a creepiness factor that makes it more of a horror instead of science fiction. This movie is unexpected. I first rented it about 10 years ago and instantly ... Read More Rating: - Amazing!!!!!I am writing this review from the UK. Hoping that we either get this released here in England or that the US version will be region free... This is one of the best Sci FI Horror Movies of all time... It has such a mood to it, and is genuinely scary. I just hope they have remastered it to give it a great Blu-Ray transfer. Rating: - Great film, though not perfectThis is a great film which is not worthy of the a lot of the bad reviews that it has gotten here. It's an excellent blend of science fiction and traditional horror fantasy that provides a tense atmosphere that holds up throughout the entire movie. It rarely shows you the "why", rather showing you the aftermath of what has happened which is a main part of the story and of good film making. You are never shown what has happened to the ship, only explained here and there and then are left to let your imagination ... Read More Browse for similar items by category:
