Editorial Review: Description: This unique collector’s set contains all 14 Sharpe’s feature-length, epic films plus the bonus program, Sharpe The Legend. Also included is an exact, authentic reproduction of an antique map as used by the military during the Napoleonic Wars, with a Certificate of Authenticity and a custom designed Sharpe’s Eagle pewter letter opener. All conveniently stored in a custom-made, wooden box emblazoned with the Sharpe’s logo and with solid pewter closures. Acclaimed actor Sean Bean (Flightplan, The Island, The Lord of the Rings) stars in this action-packed series set in the midst of the desperate missions and battles of the Napoleonic Wars. Fast-moving, hard-hitting adventure, Sharpe brings to the screen all the danger, romance and sheer spectacle of one of the bloodiest periods in English warfare. approx. 25 hrs. col. Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Sharpe' Complete CollectionThis excellent 14 episode Sharpe television series is based on Bernard Cornwell's novels about the Napoleonic Wars 1810-15. The series follows the fortunes and daring military escapades of Richard Sharpe as he rises through the ranks from Sergeant to Lieutenant Colonel by the time of the defeat of Napoleon by the Duke of Wellington and General Blucher at the brutal and historic Battle of Waterloo in 1815. It is dominated by Sean Bean's central performance as the heroic troubled outsider ... I guess if you think a wooden box and letter opener are worth the extra $ plus remember no Sharpe's Challenge in the complete set...........Amazon really needs to get the sets priced accordingly....doesn't make sense to pay more for less.... Rating: - American View of British TV-Disturbing War EthicsStory-wise..it's the Peninsular Wars, the British and their Spanish allies are slowly pushing Napoleon back into France. Richard Sharpe is leading a specialist group of sharpshooters, his 'chosen men', thru a series of engagements from episode to episode. Sharpe, himself, has been promoted from the enlisted ranks to the officier corp. Despite the fact that he is an internationally famous war hero, has royal patronage, and is on a name basis with Wellington he must battle discrimination and political jealousy ... Read More Rating: - AwfulI have enjoyed the Sharpe novels and have read them twice, along with most everything else Bernard Cornwell has written. Therefore I spent over $300 for the DVDs, relying on the opinions offered to Amazon. I have played three of them and have been very dissapointed. The productions have bastardised the novels. The acting becomes laborious, the plots rediculous, the low-cost production obvious, and most of all boring. I cannot stand to look at the rest of the serious and have not done so. He already had all these on VHS but he said that these are edited better and the color and sound are great. If you enjoy historical fiction and you enjoy war movies/shows, you will enjoy these DVDs!
