These are plastic units, which is why I give them 4 stars. The hose connections should be brass, in my opinion. Hence, all the leaking complaints on the reviews for these sprayers. The smaller criters really don't care, raccoons are probably smart enough to turn it off if they care and turn it back on after so you won't know. The sensor is wind sensitive so if you set it too high, it will be triggering all the time on windy days. At the maximum sensitivity setting it will spray water to you if you walk 30+ feet away, so that is a positive. However, at maxmium sensivity one or the other will go off (every 1/2 hour or so) without any obvious trigger. I will look out at its coverage area in the morning and the ground is slightly damp (which is fine for my purposes, since I'm trying to get grass to sprout).
