Editorial Review: Description: "Compelling viewing for adventure lovers." - The Daily Mail Acclaimed actor Sean Bean (The Island, The Lord of the Rings) stars in this action-packed series set in the midst of the desperate missions and battles of the Napoleonic Wars. Adapted from Bernard Cornwell's bestselling novels, Bean portrays maverick British officer Richard Sharpe who rises through the ranks of Wellington's army by his own daring deeds and ambition. Fast-moving, hard-hitting adventure, Sharpe brings to the screen all the danger, romance and sheer spectacle of one of the bloodiest periods in English warfare. Includes: Sharpe's Rifles / Sharpe's Eagle / Sharpe's Company / Sharpe's Enemy / Sharpe's Honour approx. 8 hrs. col. Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Fine intro to seriesNot many Americans are as familiar with Bernard Cornwell's Sharpe series as we are say Hornblower or Patrick O'Brien's seafaring fiction. A & E's films series of C. S. Forester's Hornblower series and the big screen release of Master and Commander: The Far Side of The World starring Russell Crowe have helped these stories find an audience, but the British made for television Sharpe movies have yet to find mass American appeal. Fans of the Sharpe series should sit back enjoy the TV shows and not worry too much when events on the screen vary from ... Very enjoyable. Rating: - not as good as the bookI thought it was pretty good for the first one, but not near as good as the book. I think I will try some of the later Sharpe DVDs and hopefully they will be a little truer to the books. Rating: - A great film adaptation from the bookthis film brings to life the adventures of the the infamous Richard Sharpe. A tough man is our Sharpe. He made the rare advancement from the common rank and file redcoat to the lofty rank of commissioned officer. This movie does a good job of showing the reader the trials of the common redcoated soldier of the late 1700s. It clearly gives a picture of glory and filth. the two things that made up the lives of the redcoat. If one enjoys a good yarn with lots of action and a touch of the historical accurate ...
