Rancher George Washington McLintock owns most of the town that bears his name, but James Edward Grant's screenplay is at didactic pains to establish the benevolence and socio-political enlightenment of his reign. G.W.'s former Indian foes have become his pals, he enjoys nothing so much as playing chess with his Jewish merchant buddy (Jack Kruschen), and he's tolerant--as his fellow landowners are not--of the homesteaders crowding into the territory. In what now seems like prescience about where things were headed in the 1960s, he even does his best to achieve rapport with (gasp!) impatient youth. McLintock! was the first movie produced by eldest son Michael Wayne, and the first major assignment for director Andrew V. McLaglen (son of Quiet Man costar Victor).  Rating:  - McClintockGreat movie! Cute story. Maureen O'Hara and John Wayne have a magnetic chemistry which makes this movie work. Chill Wills is always fabulous in his supporting role. Comedy, romance, love, stubborn pride, etc. Nice romantic comedy with a western setting. Rating: - McLintock!This was a fun movie when I was young, and still is. It really is pretty sexist by today's standards, but still enjoyable to watch. Rating: - O'Hara and Wayne at their BESTI finally own the movie that almost out does the Quiet Man. If you love O'Hara and Wayne together, you cannot miss this one. A thrilling comedy for the whole family for now and years to come. You will laugh till it hurts and watch it twice because you will miss a lot while laughing out loud. Amazon delivers an excellent quality DVD. Rating: - Funny Film with Timeless Words of WisdomA friend let me borrow this film and I found it funny and cute. Although his version the film was scratchy and not good quality but I bought this one and it was perfect. The sound and picture quality was perfect. I do not have any trouble with my disc. Words of wisdom: "I can't explain it Becky, but there is something that happens between a man and a women with all that growing up together." John Wayne at his best! Rating: - Fun MovieThis is one of the best John Wayne movies that I have ever seen. Very funny and exciting to watch. This is up there with Hatari! I would recommend this movie to everyone.
