Editorial Review: Product Description: Pregnancy is a most important time for a woman to maintain her physical strength and stamina and PRENATAL YOGA is a perfect way to keep in shape. These gentle exercises are clearly detailed by instructor Shiva Rea according to Yoga Journal's Prenatal Yoga guidelines. Maintain the energy and stamina which will be needed in the delivery room along with the concentration that comes with the practice of yoga. Different techniques are applicable to each trimester of pregnancy and this fifty minute video is geared for every level of yoga practitioner.System Requirements:Running Time 60 Mins.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: HEALTH/FITNESS Rating: NR UPC: 029956088825 Manufacturer No: 120-1269 Amazon.com: The best thing about this prenatal yoga program is that there is a model for each trimester. Instructor Shiva Rea demonstrates each of the stretches and exercises for the first trimester, and two pregnant women show modifications for the second and third trimesters (they're even dressed in different colors for easy reference). This removes the self-doubt home-exercisers often have about the safety of certain moves--especially in that cumbersome final stage of pregnancy. Using gentle voice-over instruction, Rea and her assistants take viewers through a half hour of meditational stretches using blocks and chairs for support. She follows that up with 16 minutes of floor work: lunge pose, bridge pose, child's pose, plank pose--all with the necessary adjustments. She winds things up with a four-minute guided relaxation on her back--the traditional position--with the second-trimester woman on her side and the third on her side with one leg up on a chair. By including the different adaptations, Rea has made a program with the flexibility to carry an expectant mom through her entire pregnancy--and beyond, if she wishes. --Kimberly Heinrichs Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Helpful poses, good flow to routineI have been using this video since the beginning of my pregnancy and I am now almost 6 months along. I find that I appreciate it more as time goes on, because many of the poses help alleviate lower back pain I have from the changes in my body, and I can tell I feel stronger as my body keeps getting bigger. The background music is nice, the instructor's tone is pleasant, and the routine as a whole has a nice flow to it. Rating: - Just okayIt's perfectly fine and safe to use during pregnancy. I'm a person who exercised 3-4 times a week prior to getting pregnant however and it was far too easy for an intermediate exercise enthusiast. I by no means am a "power" exerciser, but this seemed to not push me even in the slightest bit - maybe that's its intent - I was wishing for a little more. Rating: - Relaxing Yoga for PregnancyI ordered this DVD along with another prenatal yoga video (Jennifer Wolfe), and find that this one is less challenging as a workout than the other. It is very well done, though. She is a very thorough instructor, and definately is well focused and educated on the needs of pregnant students. While this may not be the equivalent of a yoga fitness class, I feel that it is excellent for relaxing stretching and muscle toning throughout pregnancy. I would probably recommend it more to those in their late ... Read More Rating: - Prenatal Yoga With Shiva ReaThis video is great for all of the various stages of pregnancy. There are modifications for all three trimesters and even variations on those. Strongly recommended for pregnancy. I found it to be a little slow paced in my sixth and seventh month but perfect for the rest of the pregnancy as I was limited in my movements. Rating: - ExcellentThis program is wonderful. I have been doing yoga for 5 years, and, although it does not challenge me in the usual ways (backbends, inversions, etc.) it definately opens up the hips and is preparing me for birth. I highly recommend it to all pregnant women. Browse for similar items by category:
