It was a fun game with great music, detailed art, decent animation and voice acting, as well as a lot of historical information. It was a huge upgrade over the basic versions on Apple and early Windows, and I enjoyed it a lot. Fast-forward to the 21st century, where Oregon Trail 5th Edition has been released for Windows XP and Vista. Read More Rating: - Great Game - Trouble playing on XP try the patch OT5PatchI had the same problem as others playing this on my Vista notebook and my XP desktop, but one of the other posters mentioned http://support.encoreusa.com/kb.asp?id=322 and I found http://support.selectsoft.com/products/O/LLORETR5TJ.htm both of which have OT5Patch.exe which is the patch that makes everything work. You learn the hard life of sickness, snake bites, gunshots, fishing, double -teaming the animals, gathering, hunting, bear and couger injuries in the process of hunting, and shopping and trails. Read More Rating: - Yes it is like the game of your childhood I had to have this game, it just reminded me of computer class in 3rd grade, However beware this game has glitches it stopes in the middle and freezes your entire computer, Soo annoying and it does not save so you have to reboot your computer and start all over again.
