Amazon.com:
The same year that River Phoenix made Running on Empty, in which he played the son of '60s radicals on the run from the law and hiding in plain sight, he also made this film, which is even less interesting than the vastly overrated Running. And, in this one, he plays a kid whose parents are, in fact, deep-cover Soviet moles (oops, the Berlin Wall is coming down--bad timing there) who are about to be brought to the surface. But Sonny Boy is being indoctrinated by a kindly FBI agent (Sidney Poitier)--and is torn between battling those dirty Commies and helping them because those dirty Commies are Mom and Dad. As silly as it sounds, building to an ersatz action finale. --Marshall Fine

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Cold War Classic
This was indeed one of the last cold-war films that I can recall. The premise, that Soviet sleepers of many years could be called up for espionage, is played out with Mr. Poitier as the FBI agent working to foil the Soviets. I have only seen River Phoenix in this movie, yet he is masterful; it's such a shame his personal life was so tragic. I hadn't seen this movie in more than 10 years when I purchased the DVD. I found myself transfixed as I had in the movie theater originally. The two actors ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Nice Cold War Story
Good story of a San Diego FBI agent in pursuit of a Soviet agent who is killing off Soviet "sleeper cells". There's good interaction between Agent Roy Parmenter and high schooler Jeff Grant whose parents are "sleepers". Great suspense as Roy and Jeff and parents play a cat and mouse game with the Soviet assassin. This is one of the last "true era" cold war movies to be made.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Movie!
I personally love any movie with the late and great, River Phoenix, but "Little Nikita" was pretty good. It really wasn't his best movie, but every actor has his/or her not-so-best movie. I would only suggest this movie if you're really into spy action movies from the 80s or if you're like me, watch it for River Phoenix being totally hot and talent.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I love River person
I love this movie, because River is in it, and I love him *Crys* I wish he would come back, I will always love him....*crys* God Bless River. I alsmot beat my tv, because we didn't get the channel with stand by me

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Eternal River Fan
This movie is great, in my opinion any River Phoenix movie is great. And if you are a tru fan of River Phoenix than any movie with him is worth seeing and as for wasting his talents... he wasted his talent just being in this world with us no one could ever completely understand how deep his talents were. River will alwayz be loved and missed. Now if you are truly a River fan then I defintly recommend this movie to you.
