Editorial Review: Product Description: An adventure-loving team of professional big game hunters ventures to east africa to round up animals for zoos around the world. Led by wayne they get into a couple of scuffs along the way including one with lady photographer martinelli who is doing a story on the expedition. Studio: Paramount Home Video Release Date: 05/17/2005 Starring: John Wayne Red Buttons Run time: 157 minutes Rating: Nr Director: Howard Hawks Amazon.com: Howard Hawks's 1962 adventure-comedy is basically the same, loosely plotted movie Hawks made over and over again for decades. A collection of professionals with a common goal--in this case, animal trapping in Tanganyika--forms a pocket community and holds each other to high standards in their work. This is a film about camaraderie, crisp banter, romance, and exciting action (the animal sequences are great). John Wayne played this part in about a thousand ways for Hawks over the years, and he could not be more entertaining as a grizzled pro. --Tom Keogh Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Classic John WayneA classic John Wayne film. This film takes place in Africa where Wayne and company have a business capturing mostly large animals for zoos. The action sequences are well done and it's great to see the abundance of African wildlife. My 7 year old loves this show and loves the "pockets" character (played by Red Buttons) in particular. Rating: - Romance, Laughs, & Family Entertainment: A Light-Hearted Adventure About Chasing/Capturing Zoo Animals In (Tanganyika) Africa"Hatari!" has long been a personal favorite for its adventure, excitement, thrills, laughs, cinematography, sound track, and overall entertainment. "Hatari!" was the first movie I ever went to see more than once; I wore out two sound track records listening to Henry Mancini's marvelous music; and the film was the first VHS I ever purchased. As my tapes were starting to go bad, I finally purchased the DVD. I was quite relieved that all 157 minutes are on one disc, and in wide screen. (How I long ... Rating: - Great Family MovieThis is my 8 year old son's favorite movie and has inspired him to watch and buy many old classics. If only more kids were given access to really good movies then maybe the tide of mindless crap that flows into our theatres and homes would be stemmed and kids demanded better story lines cleaner plots and better acting...I pray that he goes on to love the old movies and works to restore tham...and keep them alive.. Rating: - Hatari! One of John Wayne's best non-western movies. The movie takes place in Africa following a band of exotic animal "hunters" who capture animals for zoos. There's plenty of action & an international cast that's pretty good. Red Buttons co-stars & all but steals the movie. Hardy Krueger (Flight of the Phoenix) is here also as a more than credible assistant. Elsa Martinelli is the female lead but is weak in her portrayal. This is about where Wayne began his dabbling with international ... Read More Browse for similar items by category:
