Editorial Review:

Amazon.com:
This latest entry into Disney's pantheon of canine cinema has an English duke expiring within the first 20 minutes and leaving his estate and title to his manservant's dog ,Hubert, rather than to his greedy nephew and wife. Once kids recover from the sadness of the lovable codger's demise, they will enjoy the high jinks as the servant, Chives (James Doohan, a.k.a. "Scotty" to Star Trek fans) and his American niece (newcomer Courtnee Draper) combat the covetous couple's schemes in order to save the castle and their pet's title. Along the way, a Queen Elizabeth look-alike--complete with Welsh corgi--makes an appearance at an introductory ball that involves Sloppy Joe appetizers, flatulence, and humans waltzing with dogs. The niece has a chaste romance with a young duke masquerading as a local boy, and Hubert gets caught up in a love triangle between Cosette, the high-falutin' poodle, and Daisy, the down-to-earth basset hound. While billed as family entertainment, this 85-minute movie will have most parents thinking fondly back to Shaggy Dog sequels and Air Bud. (Ages 4 and older) --Kimberly Heinrichs

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Duke is a Fun Film for the Whole Family!
The Duke is a very cute movie that features a live bloodhound and basset hound. Children (and adults) who are dog lovers will enjoy this movie. The story is a little predictable with a happy ending, but that's the way it should be with a movie so adorable! I highly recommend giving The Duke a turn in your DVD player.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Gone to the Dogs
Meet Hubert, a lovable dog in the tradition of all lovable dogs. Hubert has a reasonably good life. He lives with his master, the Duke of Dingwall (John Neville, "Urban Legend" and "The Fifth Element"), and is generally cared for by Clive Chives (James Doohan in his next to last movie) and his niece Charlotte Chives (Courtnee Draper). Everyone is generally happy until the Duke passes away.

The trouble begins during the reading of the Duke's will. The Duke's sleazy nephew believes ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Family Fun
Philip Spink's great masterpiece of family fun! Nice mix of characters that worked as a family to put the whole movie together. A very enjoyable working experience and one I'll share for years to come (I was an extra in it- A butler). Way to go Cast and Crew! A must see for everyone!...
