I've been trying to remember for 15 years where I had seen a way-above average compilation of "SNL brand" material one foggy prime-time night years ago. The memory of Randy Quaid as Coach Dobbs getting beaned by a baseball over and over again, or Joe Flaherty as Abe Lincoln returning from a trip to the near future in his time machine (Catherine O'Hara as Mary Todd Lincoln:"What about me? Was I there?" Abe:"Yeah...you go nuts." Mary:"Damn!I knew it!!")have made me smile ... Read More Rating: - Liked the Friends Part More Than The Toonces PartNot that the Toonces sketches weren't funny too but IMO the best stuff on here is what some people might consider "filler". The so-called "filler" stuff has lots and lots of great comic actors and writers on board and it's all pretty top notch. The "Zactu And Mondo From Way, Way Beyond-O" sketches featuring George Wendt from "Cheers" and Kevin McDonald from the Kids In The Hall as two bumbling aliens attempting to make contact with the people of Earth (and failing miserably) ... Read More Rating: - "Toonces and Friends" Short On TooncesToonces and Friends is a big disappointment. I wandered why it wasn't available on DVD, it's because the entire program is only 24 minutes in length. That wouldn't be an issue if those 24 minutes were filled with Toonces sketches from SNL. However, Toonces is in only 3 of the 11 sketches on the videotape... what a waste! The remaining 8 sketches are comprised of material from the late 80's when SNL wasn't very funny. Toonces was in 10 Saturday Night Live episodes between May 20, 1989 - April ... Read More Rating: - He Can Drive, Just Not Very Well...Quite possibly the funniest video you'll ever watch. Yes, it's a little too heavy on the "and Friends" part (the "Fugitive Couple" skit is not worth watching, and most of the others are there as filler), but the Toonces portions are laugh-out-loud funny. There is one exception to that... the "Scruffy The Rat" skit is every bit as funny as the "Toonces" skits. I actually bought this video just for Scruffy, and then fell in love with Toonces too. Toonces is without a doubt the funniest imaginary character ... Read More Rating: - Hillarious Video - also to clear up a few things...Not ALL of the sketches on this video were from Saturday Night Live. In fact, if I remember this correctly, this was actually a prime-time special which aired sometime in the early 90s. I can at least remember watching it on TV back then. These are all sketches by Jack Handy, and its actually mostly original material; maybe a couple or more of the Toonces sketches were actually from Saturday Night Live. So basically this video is a showcase of Jack Handy's humor. This video IS available in SP mode, ... Read More Browse for similar items by category:
