Editorial Review: Amazon.com: This 1991 Fonda workout works the lower body in two ways: 35 minutes of low-impact aerobic dance with some step, then 25 minutes of targeted conditioning for the abs, buttocks, and thighs. The whole workout is well choreographed, well instructed, and accessible to beginners. Fonda starts by giving basic directions for exercisers new to stepping. Then she bows out and a variety of energetic, capable instructors alternate teaching segments of the aerobic workout. They use the warm-up to pre-teach many of the moves you'll use later, so although the aerobic section has a lot of dance choreography, it's not all unfamiliar, and each move is repeated often enough to get it easily. If you prefer not to use the step at all, several participants show you how to do the whole aerobic workout without the step. For more intensity and a harder workout, you'll want to follow the instructors using the step. Fonda returns to teach Part 2 herself, starting with traditional lower-body floor work, mainly many variations of leg lifts and abdominal crunches, followed by a stretch. - -Joan Price Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Jane Fonda's Lower Body SolutionOne of my favorite workouts! Wore the first tape out and needed another. An oldie but a goodie ... that really works! Wish it came in DVD form. Oh well. Rating: - Way too easyNormally, I find the reviews by Teedums to be right on the money and have bought many DVDs based on them; but on this one, I can't agree with her assessment. (I did buy it because I believe that she is and continues to be one of the best reviewers of exercise workouts.) The aerobic portion is unbelievably boring and easy. Although Mark is a great leader, it is dated and slow. The leg portion is somewhat challenging, but you could get the same "push" from the Low Impact Aerobic VHS or Aerobic Interval ... This workout is divided into 2 segments, the first being a 25 plus minute low/mixed impact aerobic segment with the option of using the step. This segment is somewhat dancy as previous reviews have stated, but it's not too terribly difficult though it might take a few tries to master. The last five minutes of this section include standing lower body exercises such as squats and lunges, a few ... I go out for 3-4 mile runs and come home to do the lower body portion and it kicks my A**!!! With the running and the video, my whole body changes so quickly. So, if your up for a tough workout get this video! p.s. ankle weights will kill ya! Rating: - fun, effective workoutFor the most part, this is a pretty good tape if you need something for the lower body. The first half of the tape consists of a low impact aerobic workout. No equipment is needed, but you can use a step/bench if you want an extra challenge. I would definitely recommend that, or using ankle or wrist weights to increase the challenge, as it's a fairly easy workout. Also, since this tape was made in 1991, the music, outfits and workout moves are...well, very early 90s. At first I found it rather annoying because ...
