Editorial Review: Product Description: This sprawling photographic history spans the entire range of memorable automobiles of Bayerische Motorenwerke: from the early 1928 3/15 (a rebadged Austin Seven) to the Z8 roadster that took the automotive world by storm in 2000. The story is related in complete series and model histories, and overviews of the company's forays into motorsport. Gorgeously illustrated with rare, archival imagery and modern color photography, this lavish treatment features classics like the elegant pre-war 328, post-war 502 luxury saloons, the curious single-cylinder Isetta, 507 sports cars, the revolutionary 2002 Turbo, the M1 supercar, the Z3 roadster and much more. ![]() Rating: - Should have been named BMW companyThe book is a good read if you are interested in the history of the BMW company, but it has very little information on the cars themselves. The writing is correct and entertaining. The pictures are of correct quality even if they tend to look like they were taken from a sales brochure. An easy read for the BMW or car history fanatic. Rating: - BMW Table Book This book is worth reading because it is not the usual company line that you often get from car-related books that are friendly to their subject. This book attempts to tell a more complicated tale about the automobile maker. The photos are lovely and reveal a surprsingly varied number of old BMW designs. This is not a huge acadameic text though. It's really just a relatively thin coffee table book. But if that's just what you need, go for it. It's annoyingly hard to find similar books about BMW in ... Read More Rating: - Excellent BMW historyThe writing isn't exactly Shakespeare. There are occassional run-on sentences, but the writing does not get in the way of the story. Along with the story which is presented in as much detail as I can stand, the author challenges BMW party line about widely accepted stories which are too neat (such as the folklore concerning BMW's near demise in 1959). Also, the author questions certain BMW claims such as the inherent superiority of RWD over FWD (especially ... Read More Rating: - Good read!I picked up this book because of my uncontrolled love for BMW's, and as I expected it was unbelievable, a well put together book that described the history, automobiles, company and people that were and are involved to build these fine forms of transportation, cars of motorcycles alike, that we know today. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves cars (German cars in particular), and enjoys reading about automobile history and the formation of a global auto power. Pictures are plentiful and very clear. Rating: - A must have! This book was a great read. It covers all the aspects of the BMW legacy. From the scramble after WWII to the explosion of the 2002 and the modern technical marvels that are here today. A must have for the BMW enthusiast. Browse for similar items by category:
